Retirement is a time to relax, unwind and settle down.Mr. A.M. Sayyed & Mrs. Farida Bano Sayyed decided to look for a property in Mumbai, so that they could live close to their children.

A.M. Sayyed had retired a few years ago as a General Manager of NABARD (National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development), Mumbai and as every retiree wishes, he wanted to settle in a beautiful and nice neighbourhood. Although Mr. Sayyed hails from Aurangabad (Maharashtra) he never had second thoughts about settling down in Mumbai. “I joined RBI & NABARD here in Mumbai and have spent close to 20 years of my work life in this city. After living in Mumbai for such a long time, you develop a liking towards the city. One who comes to Mumbai, rarely goes back,” he exclaims.

Why Mumbai?

Finding the perfect property in a city like Mumbai, at the right place and within the given budget range is no easy feat. Mr. Sayyed talks to us about his tryst with Mumbai and what compels him to stay here. “I have a property in my home town of Aurangabad but our kids live here in Mumbai. I have one son and two daughters. My son is a dentist practicing in Mumbai and one of my daughters is also a doctor working here. The other daughter is a doctor practicing in London. Moving abroad is not an option. So we thought of staying here is Mumbai, close to my son and daughter. Currently we live in Kopar Khairane in Navi Mumbai with our daughter and investing in another flat for our son, at this point, seems about right. The new property will be ready in 2 years and my son, wife and I would shift there.”

Property finalised in 1 week!

Very rarely do we hear of anyone who has finalised a property in a week’s time. Mr. & Mrs. Sayyed barely took any time to finalise the property. They invested in a 2BHK apartment, Noble Heights in Malad East, a perfect and compact home for their retirement. “When we decided to buy to flat, I simply decided to search on the internet. That’s when I saw a pop up ad about Propfinder. I decided to get some help during my property search. Pooja was our appointed Property Search Manager. The first time I spoke to her, she was extremely nice and courteous. She enquired about our requirement, budget and location of choice. Our budget was INR 1 crore including charges like stamp duty, registration, VAT, service charge, parking and other charges. Accordingly she reverted with a few properties in a few days.”

What happened after shortlisting properties, was an interesting turn of events. He continues, “I clearly remember registering with Assisted Property service on the 6th of February, late in the evening. On 9th Feb Pooja shortlisted some properties and arranged site visits for us. We saw the property and spoke to the builder and finalised it by the 11th of February. We paid the token amount on the 14th of February to formally finalise everything. The property was so attractive, we did not want to look further. Malad is between Jogeshwari & Andheri and is located only 1.2 km away from the Western Express Highway. An added advantage for us was that there was a Mosque very close to the house. It was the best choice for us. Pooja was extremely proactive and she made multiple phone calls to the builder, coordinated everything and got us a good discount as well. She also spoke to my wife from time to time. It was really my wife’s decision and choice more than mine. ”
